Gryffindor Crest

Today I am sharing an oldie but a goodie from Heartcraft Paper.

I was thinking of how I could do something completely different.  And I think I have succeeded.
THis one is just a matter of different layers.  Here, let me show you the project first.

First I printed out the crest image.  Coloured it in.  Then I took some SU Soft Suede and cut out a frame that left a little room around the crest.  Scribbled on the frame to give the woodgrain look, finished off with some sponging of Early Expresso ink.
I then glued this to some Basic Grey card that had been trimmed to size and embossed with a brick embossing folder.
Than I adhered a piece of acetate and trimmed to hide behind the grey.  I cut out a rectangle from the black cardstock so when the rest was adhered you could only see the outside.  In the middle I used double sided tape to adhere the crest.  This gives the look of the crest floating in a window.
I loved how this turned out.  To give it a finishing touch I will buy 2 photo frames.  Remove a piece of glass from one and add it to the other, removing the back of that frame so to sandwich this project between 2 glass panels.  Daughter is going to love this on her dresser.  She is a huge Potterhead!

There are only a couple of days left in our Heartcraft Paper Blog Challenge.  Come and join in the fun.

Thanks for looking at my "different" project.  Until next ....happy crafting.

Designers Choice

Today is my turn for my Designers Choice Project over at MKC Digitals.  This is wear we pick an older image to work with (non new release).

Mine is the Foxy Santa Hat.  This one I chose to make something for my kids to use over the Christmas break.  Here in Australia we finish school early to mid December for 6 weeks.  It is way to hot for kids to be sitting inside learning so it is time out over Christmas time.

I made each one of my monsters.....er...babies, lol, a bookmark.  They love to read when it is time to relax.  So why not give them something personal to use.

Now as any mother would know, with 3 kids sometimes it is easier to designate a colour per child.  This way they cannot pinch their siblings item.  So that is what I done.  This way we know whose is whose....Lol. The things we do.

I used 3 different Distress Oxides on the Mama Elephant bookmark die, then spritzed on some water and dabbed off using paper towel to give it a splattered (snowy) look.  The sentiment was printed out 3 times and I used the smaller bookmark die for this one.  I colour the 3 foxes to match and added a little glittered snowflake and some ribbon and twine to finish off.

This would be one of my favourite projects probably because it is a personal one and shows my kids I don't just sit in my craftroom to ignore them...hehe.

Until next time.....happy crafting!

Valentine Angel

Hi again.  I have been playing with Heartcraft Papers latest release images again.

The image I am sharing today is the Valentine Angel.  This is a very simple card to make just a couple of dies and your printed image and a few basic colours.

The cloud die is the Lawn Fawn stitched clouds.  I just love the stitched dies.  They add a really cute element to a card.  I cut 4 white panels with these dies.  And the top bottom 2 were popped up with foam tape.

I printed the sentiment on the top one (before I die cut it.  I coloured up the little angel and fussy cut her out, and believe it or not I even cut out the halo.  I know, I am quite mad...lol.

So really it is a quick and simple, but it really is effective. She is a cutie.  Don't forget to play along with the Blog Challenge.  We would love to see your creations!

Until next time happy crafting.

Coffee Nerd Snowman

This is the coolest little image from MKC Digitals December release.

I so love a CAS (clean and simple) card and this one is no exception.

Sometimes an image calls for patterned paper but this little fella said "NO" ...lol.  I printed off the sentiment (from the November MKC release) and trimmed it down to fit on the card front.  Then just simply used my Altenew stencil with Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass.  I tried not to put the ink over the sentiment to keep it clear.  I coloured my little fella with my copic markers.  That is the good thing with snowmen.  They don't need much colouring!

Then added some clear droplets to add a feel of snow.  The snowman was cut out and popped on the front.  I do love this card.  Some things are best left simple.

Until next time.....happy crafting.

Ice Cream

Welcome to another week at Sketch Saturday!
We have an amazing sponsor joining us again this week.

The super prize offered this week is
a digital stamp of the winner's choice.

Here is sketch #543:

And without further a do, here is my version.

The sketch showed no where to put the sentiment so I just fitted it in where I could.  I have to say...I had so much fun with this one.  Who wouldn't love to colour in ice cream!  Next best thing to eating it I reckon.  This image is such a fun, quirky one.  Nothing like I have done before.  And who would have thought you could blend a brown copic with a pink one for the ice cream puddle.  Not me!

As you know I have issues using patterned paper on cards..I find it challenging.  But this card really needed a bright paper.  It just so happened I one in my stash.

Don't forget to play along with us over at Sketch Saturday.  It is a lot of fun and a great way to get the mojo flowing again when all your ideas are just not working.

Until next time....happy crafting.

Poinsettia Jar

It is that time again.  MKC Digital have their monthly release.

My first project this month is another Christmas project.

I used the Poinsettia Jar image.

I printed this out twice so I could use the second large poinsettia image as a stopper for the card to stay upright. I used the same colours as I previously posted on my large Poinsettia tag.

The jar is only sparsely coloured to keep the see through illusion., Copic markers C0 and C1.    I addded chunky bits of chamagne glitter in the center of each flower.

And the sentiment is one from my stash (MFT).

Don't forget to check out the other wonderful designers we have over at MKC Digitals

Until next time....happy crafting!

Love Birds

Hi Everyone and welcome to another great release from Heartcraft Paper

. I have finished all my Christmas cards this year (amazeballs!!!), so now it is time to focus on the next celebration.  This month we are focusing on LOVE

I haven't made one of these cards in a long time where we remove the middle of the front of the card and add acetate (for strength ) to give it an extra feature.  The image I used is Love Birds.  Just perfect for this look.

The heart is actually made using a MFT background stamp, heat embossed clear and then I used Distress Oxide sponged over the top.  I used an Altenew stencil to give the look of leaves in the background.  The birds and branch are coloured with copic markers.

We also have a blog hop happening.  Can I ask you leave a little love on each DT's posts as they do a wonderful job on their projects and so much love is put into coming up with the designs.

Here is the blog hop listing.  I hope you enjoy all the amazing creations.

Tania (you are here...right now!)

We also have a challenge going for the month, if you get a chance you should play along. It is a lot of fun.  Heartcraft Paper Challenge blog

Don't forget to leave our ladies a comment.  You would brighten their no end.

Until next time, happy crafting.

Take 2 on Doctor Who

Welcome back to the Whovian fun.  Here is my second project using the kit from Scrappin' Fun Kits.  I am kicking myself that I did not take a pic of the kit.  Seriously it has  some fantastic charms!

I went out of my comfort zone to try and do something a little different .  I tried to stay with the kit as much as possible on this one.  I used many more of the embellishments and fussy cut some of the T.A.R.D.I.S 's out.  Or is that T.A.R.D.I.I?  Doesn't sound right does it...lol.

Anyway here is the finished product.

As you can see a totally different style for me but it does not hurt to do something completely out of
the ordinary.
Now can you see what I mean about those charms!  Sooo cute!  And you may noticed I used a little of the patterned paper behind the charms that match the No.4 Doctor's scarf.  It is all in the details.

Anyway thank you for joining me and my project and thank you to Raelene at Scrappin' Fun Kits
for sponsoring these projects.

Happy Crafting.

Season's Greetings

I am sharing my latest playing with Heartcraft Paper Christmas release.

I went totally the whole thing.  I used all 3 gingerbread men.

Again I used the same colours as last time.  E23 E25 E27  with R14 R27 R29 for the red poles.  The sign I used E30 E31

And here is the card I made.  I used some scrap patterned paper behind them (great way to use those useless little bits that just lie around taking up valuable desk space lol).

Don't forget to join us in our monthly challenge over on the Challenge Blog.

We would love to see what you come up with.
Until next time...happy crafting.

Fall Floral Coffee Time

Welcome back to another craft filled week (here is hoping!).

Today I am bringing you a technique you can use with your digital stamps.  No line colouring.  Now before I start let me say....my printer did not co-operating because for some reason it won't work how I want it to work when it is low on ink...lol.

The image I printed out is from MKC Digitals.

Now when I printed it out I thought it would be a light grey (like it showed in my WORD document).  When low on ink the printer seems to do what it wants...and mine had a red tinge to it.  So I did in places go over these lines lightly with a black pencil.  Only on a couple of lines.

Anyway I shall step by step show you how I coloured said image.

Now this first picture shows how to colour the petals.  To the left of the image is how I coloured each petal.  First the darkest colour Y26 then the middle colour Y19 and then the lightest colour Y08.  I did go over the outline of each petal in Y19 just to add a darker edge to them.

This one shows the center of each flower.  I coloured the whole circle with E44 then from the bottom I flicked E49 then E47 then back to E44.  This gives some depth to the flower.

I used two different lots of green combo's for this one, because we have 2 different leaves.  Using the same method from the flower center,  colouring the whole leaf in the lightest colour and  then darkest colour from the center this time, and work my way to the lightest colour on the outer edges.

Now this is the star of the show.  The cup.  I love to colour this shape in.  Get it right and it looks fab.  Get it wrong and it can still look reasonable..lol.  The key is to only use short flicks with the darkest colour on the outer edges, and longer ones for the lightest colour in the middle.

When I finished colouring the lid you can well and truly notice the red outline ( you have no idea how much my OCD was going off by now!)  You can get away with the red with the flowers, leaves and cup but the lid needed that gone.  So I used a black pencil just to go over the line.  Defeated the whole no line colouring thing but it was better than the red line.  Note to self.....get more ink for printer!  Hehe.

And here is the final card.  I am not one to just layer a picture with heaps of rectangles but I think the image needed the rest of the card to be simple so it stood out.  What do you think?

Anyway that is me done for another day.  I hoped the step by step helped you with the colouring stages.

Until next time...happy crafting.

MKC Colour Challenge

Today I am participating in a Colour Challenge with MKC Digitals

Image may contain: flower

These are such beautiful colours.  Warm and cozy.  So I set to work.

I used the image Just Because from MKC Digital.  But instead of  using their wording I cut the whole image out and popped it.  All my digital work I use the Word Program.  So easy to resize things and to do multiple images really quick.

I had a die in my stash that says "Just Because" so I die cut it out of SU Early Expresso card and Very Vanilla and layered them both.  The flowers on the right hand side are just the same flowers that are at the top of the frame.  I just cropped the rest of the image out and copied and paste them 5 times.  Coloured and cut them out.  Here are the copic colours I used.

YG95 YG97 YG99
E47 E49
E07 E08 R39
Y08 Y19 Y26

If you want to play along, please do!  You can find the challenge on their FB page.

Off to do more creating.  Until then....happy crafting!

Dr Who Guest Designer

Hello everyone.  Today I am sharing something a little different.  I am Guest Designing for Scrappin' Fun Kits.

This month the theme was Dr Who (hence why I jumped at the chance!)  I <3 <3 Doctor Who.  I have made 2 projects using this kit.  The second one I will share later in the month.

Now my style is a lot simpler than the average scrapbookers work.  But it is nice to see all the different ways one kit can be used.  I won't leave you in suspense any longer.  Here we go!

I did accompany my kit with Kindred Stamps Time Traveler  and an old Avery Elle set I have in my stash.  Now, can you see the hidden word in the patterned paper?  Here is a different angle to look from.

Fits perfectly with the theme of the card.  I love the silhouette technique.  Can be very effective.

I would like to thank Raelene at Scrappin'Fun Kits for sponsoring this project.  I had a lot of fun making this one.  And I am sure I can find a Whovian who would love this!

Until next time...happy crafting.

Gingerbread Coffee Peekers

Welcome to another project using images from the MKC Digitals.

Today I am using the Gingerbread Coffee Peekers image.  I just loved these little fellows!

Now this is a pretty simple card. I printed out 2 of this image.  I changed the colour of the font at the bottom using the format feature in word.  I then coloured one of the mug and gingerbread men and cut it out.   The other I drew a line and coloured it in like it is the table top the mug is sitting on.  I popped the cut out image on top.  Added a glitzy snowflake with a gemstones and layered up the picture with borders.

To finish it off I added wink of stella to the dots on the mug.

A simple yet cute card for Christmas.  You could get away without cutting and popping the image, but it does add a little extra wow feature to the card itself.

Happy Crafting!  :-)

Snappin' Good Time

Back again!  This time I am back for Heartcraft Paper.

HCP has the cutest images for you this Christmas.  I have had a ball using these.  They are simple and easy on the fussy cutting (we all know how handy that is!).

Here is my card using the image Snappin' Good Time

Sometimes using the same image over and over can be very effective.  My little dance troupe here works on this pop up card.

On the side panels I die cut a snowflake and popped the little man on top.

Printed out the sign from the image Gingerman Greetings and die cut a cloud but used it upside down to represent the snow.

I used 9 little ginger dudes, coloured with E23, E25, E27 and V12.
And I halved some smaller snowflakes and filled in some gaps between the men.

I love this card so much.  And I hope you do too.
Happy crafting.  :-)

Saturday Sketch Time

Gee that fortnight wizzed by.  I think once we hit October time flies so quickly Christmas is here before you know it.

We have a great sponsor this week:

Little Miss Muffet Stamps has lots of fantastic stamps, digis and more! Here is their Facebook group and blog.
LMMS has generously offered a $6 GC to the winner of this week's sketch challenge.

Here is sketch #539:

And here is my project.

This card took me a little out of my comfort zone.  I am not used to using so many shapes on a card and I do have trouble using patterned paper.  The paper is a scrap I had left over and I printed off a picture of the moon for my circular shape.    The martian image is a freebie from Little Miss Muffet.  Planet and stars is from MFT.

So don't forget to play along.  It really is fun to follow a sketch for a change.  Switch the brain off for a time.

Happy crafting!

Fall flower MKC

Welcome back for another project I am sharing for the MKC Digitals.

Today I am using the Fall Flower 1 image.  I have done a slight step by step for you.

First I printed off the image in the size I wanted and in duplicate.  That way I could layer and add another flower and more leaves.

These are the colours I used.

Then I cut out all the images I wanted to use.

Then I made my oxide background.  Using each colour until I was happy with the result.

When putting it together, I layered up a few of the images.  Oh and I didn't mention the banner.  That is part of the collection as well.

And here is the final result. I hope you like it.  Don't forget one of the bonuses of digital images is you can resize them to whatever your project needs.

Happy Crafting.  :-)

Poinsettia

Hello!  And welcome, today, to my first post for MKC Digital as part of their design team.
We are focused on Christmas and Fall themes this month in their brand new release.

My first image is The Poinsettia.
First I printed 4 of the image as I want to cut out each differently to add layers to this project.

These are the colours I used.  I was surprised when I started to use the E04 as I never think that some earth colours would help colour poinsettia.

Next I have cut them all out and popped each one on top of each other.  Then added some glue and chunky glitter in the centre.  I diecut some Cherry and white cardstock using my MFT stitched die to make the base of my tag (you don't need to just use everyday tag dies to make a tag).  I also used the Tag builder set from MFT for the extra bits ( top bit and the to and from).

Then I put it all together and added some matching twine.  This is a great addition to a presents decorations for that special person you want to go the extra mile for.  I also added wink of stella to the red petals.

The last picture gives you more of an idea of the layers.  I did shape the leaves and petals slightly to give it more of a 3-D effect.

Don't forget to check the shop out.  They have some awesome images to choose from.

Happy Crafting!  :-)

Design Team Call!

Now doesn't this sound like a great idea?  And the chance to be part of something fun?  It just so happens the last project I made was monochromatic! (one of the entry requirements)   So I am going to throw this out there for the crafting gods!

I don't really have a style per say.  I don't really fit in a mould but I do meet deadlines and enjoy what I do.  Maybe simple yet fun would best describe me.....I mean my work...lol.

I have done a few challenges and regular member of Design Teams and I love it!  I love to see what others come up with as well as chatting with like minded people.

Without further ado here is my monochromatic project.

Pink and white (apart from the black on the penguins).  I just adored the simplicity of the colour scheme.

Don't forget if you want to try your hand at regular posting as part of a team you can get all your info on how to ....  HERE.

Happy crafting and good luck!

#746

Sketch Saturday time again.   I thought I might do a male card for this sketch. This is a set I bought but have never used.  My aim this ...
